Cathy Choate - About Me

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year! My name is Cathy Choate and this is my 2nd year of proudly serving as the Principal at Rowlett Academy. It’s hard for me to believe, but this is my 30th year as an educator and 20 of those have been here at Rowlett! Prior to serving as your proud principal, I was an Assistant Principal, Student Services Coordinator and Primary Teacher.

 

I completed my Bachelor’s degree at the State University of New York at Cortland and my Master’s degree at Marywood University. Yes, I am originally from “up north” but have called Florida my home for the past 20 years. 

I have always been passionate about teaching and education. During my years in the classroom, I went through the rigorous process of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher. During this process, I had several opportunities to expand my leadership outside of the classroom and discovered that I really enjoyed being a part of that school-level support. This led me to complete my Ed.S. in Educational Leadership!

Outside of school, I have a wonderful husband, Bill, and three adult children (all of whom are Rowlett alumni!). My hobbies include traveling, golf, and spending time with family and friends.
