Hurricane Milton - Update #3

Hurricane Milton #3

Hello Rowlett Academy Students, Staff, and Families,

We sincerely hope you weathered the storm safely and all members of your family are fine. I’m sure many of us sustained some damage and probably most of us are without power. Both campuses had damage and are without power. However, it could have been much worse.

Taking care of your own home is the priority but if any staff member or parent is available, we could use as many hands as possible to clear debris and prepare both campuses to safely welcome back students.

We need volunteers on both campuses from 8:00am -12:00pm on Saturday. At 12:15 we will host a BBQ on the elementary campus for all volunteers. We will have food, but no drink. Since both campuses have lost power, we have plenty of food to cook from the freezer. Please bring your own beverages.

We need chainsaws, rakes, and blowers if possible. Bring your own gloves. Special request, if you have access to large machinery like skid loaders and bobcats, please email me at [email protected].

Also, our first communication may have been confusing stating that we were going to be ready to welcome students Monday. That was a mistake. Monday is still a scheduled record day for teachers to prepare grades. As long as we get power on and ensure the campus is safe, we will be ready for students on Tuesday morning.

Thank you for all your support and let us know if you need anything.
